The case is ebonized, and has a deep maroon color
under good light. It has been highly polished and waxed.
Although the top finials are replacements, they are nicely done, and
match the bottom finial, which is original. The original wall stabilizer
bars are in place, but the stabilizers are replacements. The dial
is in perfect condition, and the hands are finely pierced, identifying
this clock as Viennese in origin. The pendulum is zinc-backed, and
has been polished and gold plated, as have the weights. The movement
has been recently cleaned and oiled, and runs perfectly.
Caveats
The splat has been broken and repaired; very
nicely done, and not apparent unless you are looking for it. The bottom
of the door has a "typical" crack in the middle; also nicely repaired,
and not noticeable. The top finials are replacements, and match the
bottom (original) finial. The original stabilizer screws have been replaced
with new pieces.
